Ad sizes, file types and design tips

Screens can differ in size and shape, so every screen has its own specs below. When you upload an ad, we check it against the screen you picked and show you a preview. Rather not design it yourself? We can make it for you.

Designing for an LED screen

An LED billboard is read from a moving car, often from across a junction. These rules make the difference.
  • Design at the exact size

Each screen has its own resolution. Start from the template for your screen so nothing gets cropped or stretched.

  • Keep it to a few words

Drivers see your ad for a few seconds. Aim for seven words or fewer, plus your name and one way to reach you.

  • Go big and bold

On a small LED screen, thin letters disappear. Use heavy type, and make your main line at least a fifth of the screen's height.

  • Use strong contrast

Light text on a dark background, or the reverse. Avoid placing text over busy photos.

  • Keep motion calm

Video is welcome. Avoid fast cuts, flashing and strobing; they're hard to read and we can't run them on public roads.

  • Fit your slots

A video can be as long as your slots add up to: 15 seconds for one slot, 30 for two. Images stay on screen for the whole slot.

Every ad is reviewed before it plays. See what we won't run.
